Finished Dollhouse last week, my Whedon initiation is finally complete. I was kind of reluctant to watch this show, mostly because Whedonites tend to hate on it so hard. It's really quite good, the possibilities behind the concepts were enough to keep me up at night thinking about them. I enjoyed both seasons rather a lot, and not just for the beloved familiar faces of Faith, Fred, Wesley, Wash, River, Penny, Badger, that Sheriff from The Train Job... the list goes on. In my unprofessional opinion, Dollhouse rivals the best of any other Whedon show. Believe it. I encourage any Buffy/Angel/Firefly fans who haven't checked it out to do so in a timely fashion so you can actually understand this trailer.

Since the text was kind of fragmented and spread out, it goes like this:
"In the dollhouse, anyone can happen.
The conspiracy runs deep, so be careful who you wish for.
The truth is static. (as in, unclear, hard to understand or be sure of, etc. It's a metaphor. I thought I was being clever).
Without freedom, no one has a name."

The last line is a quote from Milton Acorda, I definitely didn't come up with that.

:D

Edit: January 30, 2011: Featured on Whedonesque! So awesome!

  • Tim Minear just posted your vid to his Facebook page with this comment: "Fan vids are so sophisticated. Almost makes me want to see this show."

    You done good.

  • @TinEarTom I'll just be comatose for a few minutes while I process this information. ...Did I fall asleep?

  • Here from Whedonesque. I'm blown. a. way! This trailer is what I see in my head when I remember the show, and the possibilities that should have been.

Fox did at first seem like they'd learned their lesson from Firefly, but come to find out later they were still just as good at putting their fingers where they shouldn't be. I think Joss managed to fix the things they messed up by the end of S1, but by then the ratings police had already done their damage.

  • @multiplecats Thanks so much! I logged in to my account this morning for find tons more views, likes, and comments here than I remembered from last night. This is so exciting for me, as a loyal patron of Whedonesque. If only I could actually score a membership.

  • Personally, I think Dollhouse had very interesting concepts that could've been executed better. This trailer is great representation of the ideas that Dollhouse explored

  • @Khaeysa I would agree with that review. :) Every few episodes a particularly good case for/against certain aspects of the Dollhouse would come up, and I found myself thinking about these scenarios more than what was shown in the episode. It's definitely a great show to think and talk about.

  • This is better than the real trailer.

  • I enjoy this

  • Great job on this vid. If Fox had used it instead of their junk the series might still be on the air. This was the first show since X-Files that I felt worthy of my time. (Well this one and T:SCC) It has so many multiple plot lines, any one of which could exceed a typical network show, it could have gone almost anywhere. Instead the only place it went was to the attic.

  • @SINI1995 I haven't seen Dr horrible I'm going to have to check that out I've seen every other Joss show. :)

  • @forthelove77 buffy, some angel. The first 6 episodes of firefly. I tried to finish it but I got bored :/

it also made me love Dr horrible even more

  • @SINI1995 What other Joss shows have you seen?

  • Why did they have to cancel Dollhouse. People don't give shows like this a chance,Look at Buffy how many of as have had friends family look at you funny Buffy? little do they know these shows are the most amazing show they will ever see❤

  • I really enjoyed the first season, I feel it fell heavily after that.

    Great video.

  • @TinEarTom Haha that's awesome. This video is brilliant. I often say that the writers/producers of TV shows and movies should hire talented die-hard fans to create their trailers because they're always so much better than what some professional who doesn't really care will create.

This is so beautifully executed. I'm in awe right now. Amazing!

  • wonderful video here! I was reluctant to watch this show at first. then I found myself absolutely wrapped up in it after the first few episodes I couldn't stop watching it. There are so many stories left untold this along with Firefly were cut short before they got a good chance to blossom, like Buffy. I think if these shows had a chance to grow they would have been even more amazing and mind blowing as they progressed.

:::Cheers to what could have been:::
