Webcam time-lapse animation of the 2004 Venus transit. Taken near Guildford, UK.

Images taken with a webcam on a telescope through Baader solar film. One image taken every 30 seconds to make this video cover about 3.5 hours.

I'm hoping to be able to travel to Asia to record the 2012 transit, the last chance we will get to see this happen until 2117!

This only happens twice every 116 years, with the two times seperated by 8 years. so the next time is June 6th 2012, then not again until December 2117 an 2125.

Wikipedia has a chart if you search for "Transit of Venus 2012" that shows where the next one will be visible from.

  • So fast?! How often can you see it then? And where the charts?
