During WWII, the death camp at Treblinka had an escape, causing the Commandant at a similar camp in Sobibor to vow (actually threaten) that his camp would never experience the same thing. But those who were its captives, the Jewish laborers that had been spared from the ovens, knew that they were on borrowed time and that their only hope was to escape... the only question was how to do it. However, because the Germans would kill an equal number of others whenever a group attempted to escape, the captives knew that if ever an escape was tried, all 600 prisoners in the camp would have to be included... logistically precluding any ideas about tunnels or sneak breakouts. Indeed, to have such a mass escape could only mean that the Ukrainian guards and Germain officers would have to be killed, which many of the Jews felt simply reduced themselves to no better than their captors... thus making it a struggle of conscience. And therein lies the story, with the film being based on a factual account of what then happened at that Sobibor prison.

I was taught in school in scotland, not all germans were nazis, not all nazis were german, it wasnt just jews but many minoritys including distant great great grandparents of mines people, being romanis.. this movie shocked me, especially the scene of the baby being shot , perturbed me completely, i read a nazis comment here who was pretty angry and im still confused..seeing as education on the subject of nazism was pretty masked as is the whole history i still struggle t understand.help?

@moorocean If it's just Jewish propaganda as you claim, then how do you explain all the Poles, Russians, Ukrainians, Roma and others that were killed in the camps as well? Face it, the Nazis hated everyone--in fact they didn't even trust each other.

it is sad to see man treat man like this. there is no humanity in this at all. I feel hatred for all who hate another ethnic other than their own. My race was done the same way in some cases. i am black still i choose to love all races after how we have be done but still there is nothing new under the son in 2012, its just hidden behind laws,oppression and recession. somebody help us all.

I am sick and tired of people stating that there is some sort of comparison with the Palestinians and the Holocaust. If you REALLY CARE about the abuse of Palestinians you should be condemning the likes of Hamas and Hizbollah and Arab propoganda against Jews that will mean there will never be peace between Israeli and Palestinians.
