WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, today delivered a floor speech highlighting the nations vast reserve of energy resources recoverable through hydraulic fracturing techniques. Inhofe praised the fracturing industry for its impressive job growth and flawless safety record. The 60 year old technique, which has been responsible for 7 billion barrels of oil and 600 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of natural gas, is under fire from several federal and state representatives who claim the practice endangers drinking water sources. Today, Inhofe set the record straight on a number of falsehoods concerning hydraulic fracturing regulations.

  • Inhofe is corporate pupet of the oil industry and a Bush Cheney bot republithug Koch whore who'l repeat the corporate generated lies to keep his campgain coffers full to get re elected.... 99% of the contamination is caused by the same thing that caused the gulf blowout "Bad cement jobs"....calling for tougher standards for cementing the surface pipe and the long caseing string ,with bond log certifications ....

  • Is this guys saying that oil and gas doesn't pollute? You have to be kidding me right? sign the Frac Act!

  • What the EPA & oil & gas companies fail to tell the people is the fact they use radioactive tracers that eventually end up in the drinking water as well as the other crap.

  • According to the Oil and Gas Accountability Project, “drilling fluids or muds are made up of a base fluid (water, diesel or mineral oil, or a synthetic compound); weighting agents; bentonite clay to help remove cuttings from the well and to form a filter cake on the walls of the hole; chrome lignosulfonates and lignites to keep the mud in a fluid state; and various additives that serve specific functions, such as biocides, diesel lubricants and chromate corrosion inhibitors….

  • Drilling muds that circulate through the well and return to the surface may contain dissolved and suspended contaminants including cadmium, arsenic, and metals such as mercury, copper and lead; hydrocarbons; hydrogen sulfide and natural gas, as well as drilling mud additives, many of which contain potentially harmful chemicals (e.g., chromate, barite).”

  • lets invite the same political leaders that allowed for such loopholds which allow the Fossil fuel Industry to operate in such a irrational, dangerous manner visit the same location in question and have them and their families drink the water and report live from those sites on national TV...greed and political stagnant policy has been the rule of the day...time to change or lose more than energy...look to the gulf situation...dead natural resource.

  • @KikoKat lol

  • It's just water and sand sick folks - strain your water first and all that dizziness and cancer will go away.

  • @TCL8181 Tell that to the people that are getting brain tumors and dieing of cancer from breathing and drinking the well water which you contaminated.

Over 500 toxic chemicals are being mixed with the fluid and seeping into ground water.

Not only have fracing killed people and the environment, but its making peoples homes worthless due to contaminated wells.

  • ha ha ha all Gas Frac is is H2O Soap,Nitrogen and a clay control wow you guys don't even know anything about it. plus the gas wells are about 10000 ft i'd like to see a water well that pulls from anything that is deeper than 1000 ft.. PS i'm a supervisor on a frac crew and please do some ground water testing and find out if any chemicals are there before you try to make assumptions..
