The divine Dominique Khalfouni dancing in Roland Petit's 1986 "Ma Pavlova".
Khalfouni performs a pizzicato originally composed by Drigo for Anna Pavlova's debut in Petipa's "Les Millions d'Arlequin" (aka "Harlequinade"), ca. 1905. The pizzicato was eventually published in piano reduction as part of Drigo's "Quatre Airs de Ballet", but as far as I know does not survive at all anywhere in performance, even in Russia.
Petit dubbed Khalfouni "Ma Pavlova" (My Pavlova), in other words, I think he meant "my muse". This variation comes near the end of the complete "Ma Pavlova", so I suppose it's very appropriate to have Khalfouni finish out the ballet by performing Anna Pavlova's very own variation from "Les Millions d'Arlequin".
It's a fantastic Drigovian pizzicato, though the music is heard here in a rather over-orchestrated edition & Petit's choreography is a bit cloying (I'm not sure if he's being serious or ironic).

@palubob I'm not sure but I think it's because she didn't stay long at the POB. She was with Roland Petit's company but I don't know when she entered.

Once again, thank you, sir. CAn someone out there tell me if Khalfouni was one of those who "suffered" under Nureyev? She hardly appears in any of those great Dancer's Dreams documentaries. Too old by then? She was certainly fine here in 1986.
