Backpacking on the Teton Crest trail in Grand Teton National Park. This is a supurb alpine trail. The 28.5 mile route began with a Tram ride to the summit of Rendevous Mt. @ 10,450 ft. Half day hike & overnight at Marion Lake.

Day two, to Fox Creek Pass, along Death Canyon Shelf, through Mt. Meeks Pass into Alaska Basin. Outstanding views at these elevations above 9,000'. After lunch up to Sunset Lake and Hurricane Pass @ 10,372' and probably 40 MPH winds. We practically were blown over. Continuing the day down past Schoolhouse glacier into South Fork Upper Cascade Canyon & finally into "mosquito" camp for a 14 mile day.

Day three, an 8 mile downhill past jenny Lake to Spring Lake parking lot. You can also take a boat across Jenny Lake to the Jenny Lake Parking lot.

Hike dates: August 21-23, 2009.

Back country permits are required as are bear proof food containers, these huge black plastic things that weigh 2-3 lbs. Get both at the Moose Ranger station 307/739-3309.

  • Takes one to know one. You're right, not many hikers up there. Thanks for viewing.

  • This is a cold glacial lake just north & downhill from hurricane pass. There are six designated campsites close by in the upper south fork of Cascade canyon. 9+ mi. one way from Jenny L. Elev gain about 3500'. Have fun. Jeff

  • Excellent photos! Looks like a great hike. We plan to do the same next summer. We hiked the String Lake/Paintbrush Divide/ Jenny Lake (came out in String Lake) last week. We were 2 nights 3 days on the trail in perfect weather. Thanks for a preview of our trip next year. cjr

  • We had great weather too in between snow the week before & rain the afternoon we got out. This 29 miler was relatively easy; 2 halves & one full day. Take insect repelant for the lower elevation camps. Enjoy

  • Beautiful photos. I just returned yesterday from a hiking trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone, although not such macho hiking as you two did. I did mostly day hikes. You did an excellent job showing the beauty of the Tetons. And you were at Jenny Lake about 6 days before me.

  • Glad you enjoyed your outdoor time in Yellowstone & Grand Teton. I've been to Yellowstone several times during various seasons including the first week of June this year for the annual viewing of juvenile wildlife. You're welcome to promote outdoor activity by forwarding this clip to your friends. Also check out my youtube site at lip1415. Thanks

  • @futurebluedevil table mountin?

  • That particular glacial lake isn't doable as a day hike- it's up past Alaska Basin. Tablerock is a favorite day hike. If you haven't done that already I would do that. You'll see a few lakes and the best view of the Grand without actually being on it.

  • Thanks for sharing this video. Unbelievable photos and scenery. The pic at 3:05 looks like a little glacial lake. Do you know if there's a name for it? I'm going back to the Tetons in August and I'm already getting ideas for new hikes. How much of this would be doable as a day hike?

  • Gorgeous scenery!! And it looks like you had the whole place to yourselves! Thanks for sharing the video! What's with the hippie music? ha ha
