I was not impressed. I'd give it maybe two stars out of five. It's maybe a decent rental eventually when you've nothing else to watch but it's hardly worth the effort of the big screen.

I will WARN you that this movie is very graphic and potentially triggering to anyone who is easily triggered by violence and abuse and manipulation.

  • I've not seen the movie but have been reading that parents who are adopting, etc.. are outraged by the movie, etc...

  • Oh I can imagine. The premise of the "twist" is not totally out to lunch but a bit far fetched and the whole adoption creepiness is a very negative reflection on what would generally be a wonderful experience for both the parents and the child of a child adopted from a foreign country -- esp. one that lived in poverty or that didn't have a decent home life, etc. But there are complications to adopting foreign children, no doubt.

  • Tim I went to see this on opening night. I liked it. Yeah I was creeped out...but then I knew I was going to "that kind" of movie. And the end was totally a surprise....There REALLY was "something wrong with Esther", LOL

*zips lips as to not give away the plot*

  • Yeah I agree, what was "wrong" with Esther was a bit of a surprise but the movie as a whole didn't work for me. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was very "creepy" in places, no doubt.

Best movie I've seen in a long time!

    Nd hello?!

Alfred Hitchcock movies don't show blood?!

    Hav u not seen psycho?

ther is so much blood in the shower scene

  • esther IS pshicotic, weird, over the top, whackjob. (4.07) yeah you probably just didnt understand the complexity of it. not all movies are like the ones from the 50's. we're getting close to 2010 now. i know that the 50's were like "in your day" and you probably only like those, but maybe you shouldn't give up on recent 21st century movies.

  • maxx is cute as a button :)

  • OMG its a fucking movie for christ sakes. What the hell do you mean its too violent, if you watched Braveheart then you can certainly stand this, secondly we are not back in the 50's pal, hello 21st century, this is what really gets me, people like you who try to compare everything today to what something was back then, of course its not going to be the same society has changed and our culture has changed, if movies were made like they were back then no one would want to see them now would they?

  • The movie was very cool and Asome

  • i havent seen the movie yet but it looks pretty cool to me.

  • the violence might have been over the top for a psychological thriller, but not for any other movie. and the past of both the father and mother were completley tied into the story because esther used it to turn the husband and wife against eachother. i went into the theatre with the idea that it would be terrible, but i left satisfied and i would probably give it 3 1/2 out of 5. just my $0.02
