I've been to the salt flats and ran my bike there. There are a couple of factors that play a big part in how fast you will run there. Number one is the altitude is almost 5000 feet above sea level which means you have a 13 percent loss of power. Number two is the rolling resistance of the salt is greater than pavement. Number three is the salt does not have the traction of pavement. Number three is air temp..higher temp..less hp. Number for is air density is higher in the morning=higher drag

Don't take my word for it because I may be wrong. But they can probably do 180+ on asphalt easy but salt is a different animal.

can you go there as a spectator.i live in nashville and was thinking about buying a bike to ride out there one week i think it would be a awesome trip 1400 miles or 20 hours ..do you have to pay to get in or anything somebody please respond to this

wait a second, 170 miles was the record for a 1200 machine? Does'nt a 999cc R1 do a 180+ comfortably?

IMO two wheels + motor = motorcycle.
Streamliners get their own classes. You want to be the fastest person on two wheels? You need streamlining. It isn't like a HD streamliner will take a record away from a stock bike.

Im a firm believer that these streamliners are not motorcycles and should not be catagorized as a motorcycle they are a fully covered vehicle and need there own class just because they have a Busa or a harley engine in them does not make them a bike
