I think the fans can decide that for themselfes.

For me db dbz and dbgt are just cannon, dont care if akira didnt create gt.

It's just an cartoon, who cares if not everything fits perfectly.

Movies couldn't be canon if Akira wanted them to be.. they don't fit in with the series at all.
