a few more standards brought to vibrant life by the incomparable Ronstadt Someone to Watch Over Me (Gershwin, 1926) /watch?v=S0oRfg5RyVA I've Got A Crush On You (Gershwin, 1928) /watch?v=KelraygLn2g But Not For Me (Gershwin, 1930) /watch?v=zZEW6d3Ka4M Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered (Rodgers & Hart, 1940) /watch?v=-OV9zJdj408 Straighten Up And Fly Right (Cole & Mills, 1944) /watch?v=B7BgLNfs1_0 I Love You for Sentimental Reasons (Best, 1945) /watch?v=KGRWTxOhjEk

@skateitalian No, it's a woman's song, fits a woman far better.

I love the fact that Linda Ronstadt can sing all of the oldies as well as her regular stuff, or even better. Thank you for posting!

Linda is amazing on this cut but the REAL standout is Nelson Riddles arrangement. Anybody who thinks he didn't deliver a masterpiece on this whole album has no ear for music. Every track on this record showcases his prowess as a masterclass arranger even more so than LRs ability to sing. Listen to the cut of Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered and you'll see I speak truth.

Yes!
Love you for it

@CR65 Agreed! Nobody sings it better than Carly!
-
@swampzoid Agreed! Carly Simon's version is definitely better...in terms of making you feel her pain.

@CR65 I agree. I find this version very boring!! Carly's is the best!

Please listen to Matt Monro's version. No one, but no one!, sings it like he does!

I've heard Matt Monroe's version and I am happy to admit that Matt is wonderful with everything he sings.

A good song stands up well whoever sings it. Speaking of, I do a tremendous version of this song myself. Hoagy must have been a REAL songwriter, you think?

Rraderr, I cannot think of a Hoagy Carmichael song that is not perfect. He was the real deal! Thanks for the comment. C.
