@xvirg It is not so much keeping your head down (that phrase confuses new golfers) it is about keeping your head still through impact so that the distance from your head to the ball doesn't change until after the ball has been struck.

@Dano9613 You are supposed to hit down on the ball with all your irons. That is what creates the distance and how the ball gets in the air. Trying to "scoop" the ball actually brings the bottom edge of the club up and actually causes you to hit a shot that is very low and runs across the ground only. Try it. Take your club and lean the face backwards and watch the bottom edge come up. Even put a ball there to see how it will strike the ball.

Why would you swing down if you have to hit over a bunker
Keep your head down a little longer after impact. Bad habit to raise up too quickly. That's what I'm talking about.
