Ultracapacitors with Dr. Andy Burke

Dr. Burke(pioneer of the modern hybrid car) shows us some different types of supercapacitors that he is testing in his battery lab. Some rated at 3000 farads, 400 volts. spiral wound and prismatic. These capacitors store huge amounts of energy can can be used in place of, or in conjunction with batteries. They can be used to help start diesel engines in the cold as well as many other uses. He is testing them in his lab at U.C. Davis.

Pretty sure he means "up to 400 farads" since no EDLC I'm aware of can take more than about 3V (typically 2.3, 2.5 or 2.7 rated). The capacitor he is holding when he says 400v has 2.7v written on the side of it. Easy slip to make - so correction is not meant as a criticism.

maybe in siberia with a 40 yo diesel truck you maby let him idle all night long,

but today you wont do it, the oil prices is too high and the technology in a new diesel trucks are much better. trust me i has bin driving trucks for the last 10 years and i think i know. but i like the video.
