@esca8652 after WWII ? when the marginal tax-rate was around 80-90% ? When worker have plenty of work to help rebuilt Europe (their factories destroyed in the previous years) in a pretty regulated economy, remember the right-wing kept de-regulating in the last 3 decades.
g`luck with your pipedream
Plan to nuke Europe and china so you can have full employment ?

@esca8652 and if less worker, less consumer to buy those good. but that the mechanical improvement, what about the outsourcing to slave-wage-labor in other country, alone, its profitable for you (the owner) and cheap for your customer, but when everyone does it, you are shrinking your customer pool and everybody lose (already in progrss)

@cityguyusa sad, but too true, hopefully the momentum of the occupy movement could translate into something like this, but that's a paraplegic who somehow attained strength to stand hoping to run a mile

@mweibleii It should be noted that it is also government spending that holds back the country a great deal as well.
-
@mweibleii Yeah I agree. It is lack of liberties and a regulated "free-market" that is our problem.
after WWII the government stepped out of the way and deregulated the free-market. In this time period our economy became the most prosperous nation in the world, with the richest middle-class as well. Unemployment hit an all time low (for America).
I can't promise you that we will become the most properous nation again, but I can say that if you want to see the like, then VOTE for RON PAUL!

Which would be good. Think of it like this. In an "Ideal" world ALL things would be made without ANY workers and all people would be free to consume what they wish and only sit around doing enjoyable activities.
-
Of course we don't live in that world, we do need to be productive. Society can be MORE productive if we only need 3 people instead of 10 making a car and the other 7 can be productive in other aspects (doing other jobs). That's how society becomes prosperous.
-
@mweibleii "If GM can produce the same car with less workers = GOOD. Get it? It's very simple. A product people want to purchase made more cheaply." If this is the type of philosophy that is widespread, then there will be no *person making the car 10 years from now: it will all be mechanized.

Obama is a shill TRNN, whats so bad about calling it like it is?!
Still playing the games and acting like the government has any power or credibility is deceptive at minimal, this is why I believe TRNN is a bit heavy on the Propaganda lately.
Ain't gonna happen. The elites are banking in China and have no concern for Americans jobs. It's about recovering investor capital therefore austerity rules.

Obama may be a shill, but he is also the president of USA - and his words matter, even if it really is a game. And government does have power, the issue is who do they represent. TRNN tries to look into Obama's words and see if it really is just a game or is there something more. And they are doing a mighty fine job.
