This was an interesting read about how partners who are NT can cope with an AS partner and ways to handle the situation. Asperger syndrome (AS) is a developmental disorder. It is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD), one of a distinct group of neurological conditions characterized by a greater or lesser degree of impairment in language and communication skills, as well as repetitive or restrictive patterns of thought and behavior. Other ASDs include: classic autism, Rett syndrome, childhood disintegrative disorder, and pervasive developmental disorder not otherwise specified (usually referred to as PDD-NOS). Unlike children with autism, children with AS retain their early language skills.

  • There are a lot of under diganosed female aspies. The reason being is that they are far more social than Males. They also are far more likely to get into relationships. They are probably girls who prefer to read than go to parties or who dress differently to other girls. They may seem shy but really cant make eye contact. I personally have come across loads of women who meet this criteria. But they do not go and get a Diagnosis. Also there is not much research about Aspergers in Females

  • I have about 10 male friends within 5 years of my age in my town who also are aspies and I am a 22 year old male. But i have never met a female aspie. I think its around 1 female aspie to 4 male aspies, but that's still a massive amount of aspergian women out there who are enormously under represented.

  • I bet that woman's ex was very embarassed when he read that XD

  • your mic has problems it's kinda annoying to have that noise for loudness peaks etc

  • Great video.

What I cant understand is why this article or others like it seem to ignore the fact that us females have AS too. And that there should be guidance for NT males who are in relationships with AS females!

Theres something seriously wrong with our media;)

  • I hate being touched, I hug my kids, but for me light touch can hurt. But then I have a high pain threshold ? I was forced to eat everything on my plate as a child, but I still hated stuff and now I decide what I eat and there is stuff I can not stand, so I wont eat it. But NT's have foods they don't like too so I'm not sure that is just Aspie.

I think our nonlinear conversations can sometimes get people confused into thinking we only care about ourselves or we go on about fav topic etc.

  • Very nice video...thanks! You always bring more than one view point to your conversations. : )
