SAANICH - Mental illness is something many of us are uncomfortable talking about.

But the truth is, there are millions of people who living and struggling with some form of mental health issue every day.

Bi-polar or manic depressive illness is a medical condition giving people extreme mood swings. It affects more than two per cent of the population, changing the way they think, behave and function.

There are basically two extremes - depression, and mania where sufferers experience a major high.

Treatment options for people living with bi-polar include medication, psychotherapy, and group therapy.

The Courtnall Celebrity Classic is from July 22-24th, raising money and awareness about mental illness.
