This is Tim West and today I have the privilege and honour to interview one of the UFC's up and comers in the welter weight division Rory "Ares" McDonald at Warrior Fight Store in Whitby Ontario Canada. Thank you for taking the time Rory! Joe Rogan said that you have "more potential than George St. Pierre" and then George himself has been quoted as saying "Yes. I believe he's better than I was, when I was at the same point time of my career. I think he's going to be better than me." Big names in the MMA world. How do you respond to such praise? Any pressure? You've recently changed your nick name to Ares from waterboy (a reference to Adam Sandlers angry character, how did that come about ? I'm going to read out some names, tell me your thoughts on them: Dana White, Firas Zahabi, GSP, Kenny Florian, Joes Aldo and your old coach David Lea of Toshido Fighting Arts Academy How did King of the Cage help you develop as a fighter and THEN what was it like winning and becoming the KOTC Champion? You had a loss to Carlos Condit at UFC 115, you still won many fans and "Fight of the Night" honours. what did you learn from the fight and would you like to fight Carlos again? A difficult question, You're facing Che Mills in Montreal at UFC 145, there must be a lot of pressure on you for this fight...the obvious thing to my mind is that his record doesn't deserve a shot at you...if you win, it was expected but if you loose it's a blemish on your career, he comes in in good shape and he's a strong opponent but with a 14-4 record ....what are your thoughts on accepting this fight? You have an amazing record with 12-1, how far away do you think you are to a title shot. GSP being out and Condit fighting Nick Diaz for the interim belt do you think you might be ready this year even? Lots of us watched your fight live here in Toronto in front of 55,000 fans, every time you slammed Nate Diaz to the ground with a German suplex, the crowd went nuts...what was it like to experience fighting in front of a massive and supportive crowd like that? What is the role of sponsors in your life. Have they helped you focus on fighting? Who are your sponsors right now? I've heard Firas , one of your coaches suggest that "cage savy" will develop with time...how has your knowledge increased by moving to Montreal to train? Rory, you are often referred to as the "new breed" of mma fighter, when dana talks about fighters getting into the game early, its you he mentions. that's quite an honor and a lot of attention for someone as young as yourself and you seem like a humble guy, a good head on your shoulders, with that said, do you find it hard to not let all the attention get to you?
