This is strange, because traffic lights in Ireland have the red on top like every other country. Whether it's dyeing rivers and beer green or eating corned beef, it is just another case of trying to be more Irish than Ireland. The same is true for most other ethnic groups in America. Many Americans of German ancestry still think that Germany is the same as when Bismarck was chancellor.

@mikeburnfire the light has been like that for decades and there has been only one accident that was a result of the light being inverted, and the driver being colorblind. besides that having people break the light and redering it useless is more dangerous than having the light inverted

@mikeburnfire You raise the question of whether people relying on position to distinguish aspects should even be driving.
This is foolish, and perhaps dangerous since most people expect the light on top to be stop. God have mercy on the color-blind drivers.
