Documentary looking at the case of the murder of Rachel Nickell, brutally stabbed to death on Wimbledon Common whilst out with her young son.
Considers the police investigation that followed and the controversial way in which they tried to get their main suspect, Colin Stagg to incriminate himself or confess, by using an undercover policewoman to get involved in a relationship with him. Includes interviews with those on the case at the time as well as Colin Stagg himself, and looks at events in his trial, which fell apart when the judge strongly criticised the police operation and made any evidence from it inadmissible.

  • britton is a liar.

  • The police were obviously completely wrong to use the tactics they did, but I also think Colin Stagg was REALLY STUPID! Does he have a low IQ or something?? A woman told him she was a Satanist and murdered a pregnant woman on an altar and all he could think was, "Woww... She's really good-looking." Um, OK... Well, maybe he's just a typical male. Thinks with his *%$&!

  • @paulturton27 Maybe because it was 20 years ago....

I agree, Keith Pedder especially. No wonder he wouldn't appear in this program becuase he couldn't appear more incompetent. I do wonder though whether it dawned on Pedder, Britton and other senior officers halfway through that Robert Napper was a much better suspect but the case publicity had made backtracking on Stagg nigh on impossible.

  • @leedumett444

True. Robert Napper and the Green Chain Rape case features heavily in the book. Yet Britton denies within its pages any link with a violent attacker of lone women with a child to the Nickell Case. Paul Britton is an egomaniac who'd never admit he was wrong.

  • @silver760

...there wasn't any DNA evidence that could be extracted in 1992, that is the whole point. Only with advances in forensic science in subsequent years could the DNA link to Napper be made.

  • @AirBahg

...that is what the police obviously thought too. What a horrendous ordeal an innocent man went through though and how they didn't take a very much closer look at Robert Napper at the time is shameful.

  • Paul Britton is in it primarily for the benefit of his ego; he's a useless, narcissistic piece of shit.

  • i really dont know how that bloke could sit there and talk about finding his wife and daughter and be so calm about it, my daughter is 2 and if someone did that they wouldnt need a court to send the killer down coz he'd be in the bottom of a canal

  • colin stagg is such a thick twat.

  • paul briton is a fake and useless.

  • @jposh707

Well it's interesting to see you accusing him of thinking with his **** because that's typically male, which simultaneously shows your lack of respect and even aggression towards men, you understand what you have just said is both sexist and dehumanising don't you? Indicators of a potentially violent personality.

He did make some stupid choices, most men wouldn't have let that comment about killing someone slide but it's no excuse to make the comments you have.
