Hey, it's Lorie Marrero and today's Clutter Video Tip is about finding hidden storage in your home. Here's a place maybe you haven't thought about -- the tops of your cabinets. We've got here about four and a half inches of [POP] storage that you can't even see from the floor that's apparently being used to store extra light bulbs. And you can't see it because of this piece of molding right here, but it's actually pretty deep. If you don't mind that it shows, you can store [POP] something like vases that might stick up but are still decorative. Or if you have a lot of small items that you don't want showing, you can also use a basket so that the basket looks nice and then you're utilizing all of this vertical space.
One of the goals of any organizing project is visibility. So you might want to think about how you're going to remember what you put up there. Here we have the cabinet where we keep our typical stock of light bulbs and I actually put a label there that says "More Light Bulbs are on Top of Cabinets" with a little arrow to remind me where the extras are located.
So how does your storage measure up? You can get some more great organizing strategies at our website at clutterdiet.com/freetips.
See you next time, and may you always be happy and grateful for having more than enough.
Karen-- sorry you find them distracting... there is so much I want to say and yet want to keep the videos under 2 minutes. And it definitely does not hurt our rankings for people to watch the videos twice!!! Wink, wink! :) Comments here and from friends that are for and against the popups come out about 80% positive so I think we'll keep them.
