@JKimbley a shotgun licence isnt a firearms licence you have a shotgun certificate. firearms is a seperare licence.
they are fairly easy to get. aslong as you dont say something stupid to the police eg. i want a shotty so i can kill things. plus that would be stupid anyway lol
well im only 15 and i think ive had my shotgun license for about 2 years now so there not hard in any way to get

I live in a bad part of Liverpool, will the police just laugh at me and say 'there's no way your getting hold of a firearm'??

I don't know where you are but in the UK it is up to the Police if you can have a firearms license or not. They will interview you and then decide if there going to grant you one or not.
That shotgun was about £1000.
