Winter's here, before leaving Sutton on this day I took a trip round a dark Sutton town centre in search of more interesting classic lifts that i've not seen in a while.
I found one in the end, a Bennie with, sounding like, all mechanical machinery up in the motor room (this is in Part 3). Found some others as well, like the "longest floor arrival announcements" ever in the Library (also in part 3).

  • maybe you should get a good digital camera, and always take it with you when you go on the hunt for lifts.

these videos are nice, but better quality wont be a bad idea.

  • Yes, I know. Not sure what happened with this one. When I saw the quality I almosted deleted and uploaded again. Spent 5 minutes converting from WindowsMobileMP4 format to normal AVI. The conversion kept locking up video editing software. Eventually made video in DV quality (although it's not) at 1.3GB, imported that, then took 45 minutes to output movie at 100mb!! Then another 40 minutes to upload...(cont)

  • In this time, video quality during these conversions suffered. Absolute knightmare converting WM6.1 movies. But mostly my mobile is all I have on me, especially when I unexpectedly visit these places and haven't prepared the camera.

Hopefully getting a new digital camera soon, so I'll keep the old one in my car to do these movies.

There is something wrong with the conversion in these videos though. Taken so long to get the movies out of editing software, 4-6 attempts each video!!

  • I just realy love these lifts, I think the classic lifts are the best because they are well made and are made with very good heavy metal material making it last longer. These newer ones look horrible when vandalised and graffitied over them and they don't seem to last long when the break down all the time. There is something nice about the old lifts and I really like them. Exellent video.

  • well, i have a sony handycam dcr-sr35e, same camera as benobve :D

  • Wow!! Deve in the UK!! Great Vid!!

  • Great find, those Deve lifts. I thought they only operated in Sweden.

  • Great video

I have heard of deve lifts. I have seen videos of deve lifts on youtube - there are a lot of them in Sweden, I didn't know that they were also in england.

  • Deve is a poplar brand in Sweden. Youtube user Hissen12 has filmed many of these with those same switch style buttons.
