  • This tutorial is step by step. In this first step, only I wanted to demonstrate like making one static presentation, to the style paper and scissors. The following ones step will show animations like your good idea. I think the next step is to become familiar with the halos, as the " Demon´s castle tutorial" shows in the "More from this user" LINK.

About the software, i use for this capture a camtasia studio, but any videocapture program worked.

  • Indeed I use a little trick to put that image there. I wanted to focus my explanation in the potentialities, not in the limitations of the enviroment. I also believe that clipboard or a viewer of images is absolutely necessary for beginners. The context of the video is the diffusion of the etoys/squeak´s educative possibilities for not geeks Teachers.

  • Yes, I think it's very nice that you do that. I'm not that knowledgeable in etoys, but what if you make an etoy that is a "ray of light", that moves forward (slowly) with the pen down. Then if it sees a blue color, it stops. Clone this ray, and place them all around the star pointing outward. Then create the earth blue, and place it somewhere, and start all the scripts (Object catalog->Scripting has this).

By the way, which program did you use to film this?

  • To put objects inside other objects (which can accept them), in your case into a new project, drag it with the "pick-up" halo. I think in the future, olpc etoys should have a visible clipboard space for things like this, like the original etoys does.
