Here is my attempt at doing the Dita Von Teese look.

This is a very distinguished hair style. You should care to pay attention to all details, such as making a straight line, smoothing away fly aways. Do not get lazy with this style!

I said in my video:
1) I don't claim to be like Dita.
2) I don't claim to look like Dita.

About the hair style:
1) This look will not work for every type of hair.
2) Short hair girls: in order for this look to work, your hair should be close to ear (at shortest) or shoulder length.

  • Iris help!! I have waist length dead straight hair and love the pinup look but regardless of my curling method my curls never stay in for more than an hour! I'm thinking it's because my hair is too long! So I plan to cut it- but before I do did u have any tips or tricks to make my curls last longer because I'll be really sad to cut my hair!! Please help! :)

  • @pinupgirl1286 You might need to pin your curls right after you create them. Keep them pinned until they cool off. Release them, and then add hair spray. Sounds like the weight of your hair, is causing your curls to straighten out before the curl has set. Hope this helps.

  • I can only imagine how sore your arms were.

  • @sirneeson ;) Actually at this time, I was working out a lot on my arms so this was a piece of cake ;) :D

  • I have layered hair :( could this still work for me?

  • Dear goodness I have such thin hair but I love Dita Von Teese and I love the 50's hairstyles so I am going to try this and hope it works out.

  • To be more authentic try pin curling instead of curling iron. That's what people for her 30's-50's hair and it eliminates the heat and since your hair is molded and shaped into the curl no hairspray needed.

  • @pinupgirl1286 They have some super super hold stuff out now that would make your hair litterally stand up straight, lol, it is called freeze (appropriate), and ill bet there are other companies that have a comparable product. i just got my waist length cut to *trendy shoulder* not a good choice, little play for me as my hair is not super thick :( good luck. Dita is one of my very favorite performers, she is classy, this vid is a in a nice nod to Dita + respectfully, ty!.
