The problem with fans of Rush, is that they generally aren't. Most people who like Rush tend to like periods of Rush's musical history. They generally like their earlier work, their synthesised work, or their modern work, but seldom do they appreciate it all. Only when you can see the Rushness so-to-speak in all of it will you be a true fan. I personally like all of their work, because whilst the genre of music varies slightly, it's all distinctively the Rush that I know and love.

I think it's safe to say I'mma true Rush fan.
I appreciate all their albums and songs.
Some songs I may not like per say,but I still appreciate it.
No band will ever be as good as Rush.
Every timeline for Rush makes for a unique album.
They are not afraid to experiment with different types of sounds/music,which is why they are so unique and appreciated by many.

@SomeProudCanadian I know exactly what you mean. I for one like all of their periods because I already did like all the kinds of music they played, like the 70s hard rock sound, the 80s synth sound and so on. I liked them all but I can understand why some people don't like certain Rush periods. I just don't like it too much when someone who only listens to maybe 3 or 4 of their albums and calls themself a huge Rush fan.

There is no Rush only in the 70's, 80's, 90's and now. Rush is the sum of all these periods. I take Rush as a whole.

Hah, hah. I decided rather to not wait, I uploaded the 'Test for Echo' remaster I was talking about, "Carve Away The Stone." It's a major step up in quality from what people already know. (Dynamic range wise and dynamic compression wise...which turned into dynamic expansion.)
If you say you only like Rush from 1974-1981, 1982-1987, 1989-1996, 2002-present or any other specific time period, don't bother calling yourself a Rush fan. Sure, you don't have to like every single song of them like I do, but at least be able to apprietiate all of their work before calling yourself a fan.

@MrLizardKing96 I hear ya brother.. true fans will be true fans. As for the rest, well, there are some who have their reasons for not liking certain periods. I can't hold their opinion against them, some actually just 'grow out of it' ~ if you can call it that ~ more like they prefer to stay in the past and aren't interested anymore even though Rush has refined their craft over the years and stayed current. Sure, some albums might have been lac-luster but they've always rebounded back...

@MrLizardKing96 ...they've always rebounded back to surprise me with something original and brilliant. Very few other bands can claim that rare gift of tenacity over so many years.

What a great song! I think you have to read Ghost Rider to get a true feeling of what he was thinking when these songs came together. I was not a huge fan of the album until after reading it, now it reigns as a triumphant return to grace...

@natural2112science There's alot of great moments on this album, just a shame that it was so poorly produced. Thanks for the Ghost Rider tip, I will place it on my ever growing list of things to read.
