We decided to walk back to the hotel. We walked along the pier
"Its beautiful out here isnt it?" I said as he put his jacket around my shoulders, pulling me in close.
"Not as beautiful as you" he answered making me smile. At that moment I realised that the confusion I had earlier was nothing, I loved Shane, yes, a part of me would always love Joe... but too much had happened. My Joe was gone, and no matter how much he tried, Joe would never be him again. I would have a life with Shane, he would be a good father to my girls and maybe one day we would have some kids of our own. I smiled wide as that thought crossed my mind, I imagined Emily and Gracie playing with a baby brother out on the lawn with Shane and I sat on a blanket watching our children play. We couldnt remember the way to the hotel and it was getting very late, the only place open was a strip club, so I asked Shane to go in and ask direction, yes I asked to go into a strip club. He obligingly said yes, Shocker. I told him I would wait for him at the end of the pier. As I walked to the lookout I had the feeling I was being followed, but shook it off and kept walking. I reached to end and took in a deep breath and smell of the ocean filled me.
"Evy" I jumped when I heard Joe call my name. I turned around quickly putting my back against the railing, which I realised was loose.
"Joe...what are you..." I looked around hoping I would see Shane... He came closer "You left this behind" He pulled out a necklace; I felt my throat and remembered leaving on the table by mistake.
"Oh...uh...thank you" I slowly reached for it. He was very drunk and he looked a little angry. I tried to keep my breathing even. He reached out with it in his hand. As I reached for the necklace he grabbed my hand and pinned me against the railing, I cried out in pain as my spine was screaming in protest. He pushed against me harder
"You think it would be that easy, you think I would let you get away that easy... if you thought that then you really are stupid Evelyn, I mean you come here and flaunt your new relationship in my face and you think I would just lie down and take it" he slapped my face hard. I gasped for air I felt the railing move.
"Joe...please...dont" but he didnt he slapped me again. "Why do you make me do this, I love you so much" he broke down crying putting his forehead against mine holding my face in his hands. "I miss you so bad" he cried I was frozen in pain and fear. The tears fell and stung against my burning cheek "Joe"*whimper* Please dont hurt me" he looked at me, the tears were running down his cheeks. He put his head against mine again and took a deep breath. "I cant let you go, he cant have you" he reached into his pocket and pulled out a blade. I gasped, "Im sorry baby, but if I cant have... well he cant have you" I broke down as I thought of my girls.
"Joey please, think of the girls" I whimpered.
"They'll be well taken care of, theyll have your family and mine, sure they'll miss us..."Oh god he was going to kill himself after he killed me.
"No Joe, you cant do that to them"
"Shh, Its ok, its gonna be ok" he pulled me close; I fought against his grip when I saw Shane at the other side of the pier. He saw us and started to run, but he wasnt fast enough, I screamed his name as Joe plunged the blade into me. Then everything started to get hazy as the pain took over my body, he plunged it in again making sure he got it right. "I love you, I love you" he said it over and over again, I didnt realise he did it to himself until I felt his body crash into me, his extra weight gave way to the railing breaking and both of us falling into the sea. I heard Shane scream my name as I hit the water.
Cliffy!!!! I know you guys probably hate me right now!! But (1) Don't leave nasty comments!! If you do the will be spamed or deleted and (2) wait till you read the next chapter before you decide to do so!! It should be up tomorrow.
