K.Fierce Solo at Latin Expressions 2009

This is a piece performed at University of Notre Dame, student-run variety show called Latin Expressions. The theme of this year's show was Ritmo Latino, trying to showcase different aspects of latino cultural expression and performance throughout the Americas! This dance is meant to represent Brasil and is my personal tribute to all the people that I have met and had the pleasure of dancing with in Salvador, Bahia, Brasil. The piece is titled Sankofa and features movement inspired by afro-Brazilian culture and tradition. I know I'm not as good as a true dancer of Ilê Aiyê but I wanted to share the beautiful dance form with the larger Notre Dame community.
