Watch Kelly Benefit Strategies lead mechanic Eric Jellum attempt to fix pro cyclist Dan Bowman's rear derailleur while hanging out of the team car window at the 2010 Redlands Bicycle Classic! He doesn't quite get things to jive after a valiant effort, but redeems himself later on with a high speed flat tire/wheel change for teammate Cheyne Hoag.

He has SRAM(it say on his jersey and you can tell by the shifters. He means it wont go into the 11 tooth cog.

Why did the driver send the derr guy to the right side? Surely it would've been easier for the mechanic to work on the derr from the right hand side of the bike.

@ElephantChowder That's him opening it to get the wheel in, he never opened it to get it out. It's not like a bike won't brake with it open anyway - just more reach is needed and any rider can adjust that whilst riding anyway.

@a10fjet its beacause when you change a wheel you have to move into top gear to make it easier to fit the chain on the cassette, and its just quicker to get pushed than to change down to a lower gear
