A video showing the Ricoh R6 camera in action. The kind of thing you'd do with it if you were examining one in a shop.

The video is made using my old camera (Fuji S602 Zoom) and the regular 'clicks' (visually and aurally) on the video are made by the Fuji (and NOT by the R6).

  • I've got one of these and can't upload any of the videos I take with it. I have tried on youtube and dropshots and it only ever uploads about half a second of my videos. I've been uploading directly from the memory card instead of using the Irodio software, could this be the problem?

  • I've not done anything with the video on my R6 myself yet but I would assume that if you can play it on your PC, it should work ok by the likes of YouTube. By the way, I haven't even installed the Iridio software let alone use it - I always copy the files straight off the camera/memory card.

One thought though, perhaps YouTube requires a minimum video quality (e.g. 24fps @ 640x480) - is your video the top quality the R6 allows?

  • I've heard that this camera is extremely noisy!

Any chance of commenting on that? Perhaps a video where you turn the camera on/off, zoom, and take pictures?

Kind of difficult to quietly capture the moment if the camera is so noisy that it turns heads!

  • You can hear the camera in this video when I turn it on, take a picture and turn it off at the end. The zooming sound is the same as you hear when it turns on and off and the lens extends/retracts.

It does make a noise but I certainly don't find it excessive (though some others seem to). Having said that, I haven't used any other modern digital cameras to compare it to.

  • Oh, and the macro pic at 02:57, does it make the sound before, while or after the screen goes black?

It does seem to go "click" regularly also when not taking pictures, but simply cycling through the various modes such as the horizontal and vertical "help" lines.

  • Don't worry, the clicks you hear are the (old) camera I used to make the video (not sure what it' doing, maybe writing data to the memory card perhaps). Annoyingly it sounds just like a shutter release. Rest assured, they do not come from the R6.

You can't really hear the sound the R6 makes when taking the macro shot. You can hear a beeping which indicates it's focused but the shutter release sound you hear at 2:56 is not the R6 but the old Fuji camera I used to video it.

  • nice one for that but still undecided, anybody know if the R7 is a much better buy?

  • good work

  • I've been looking for the video like this!

    Thank you very much!

  • I just bought the R6, and I'm REALLY happy about it. Adding a 4gb sdhc card, it will be perfect for any need.

My previous one was a Casio Exilim S500.

  • Great, thanks andygrunt.

  • I'm slightly concerned about the noise the camera makes too. Is that loud "click" at 02:44 the camera taking a picture?

From 02:30 and on, I hear this loud click/thud sound regularly throughout, so I'm not sure which one is the sound it makes when the picture is taken.
