Thanks for the video. This is a dance we perform in my group. Members of our group were in Ireland in the mid 80s and learned it there. This is much the same as what we do. The jig battering is only slightly different but the reel battering is quite a bit different than what we do. Is that a style difference or a learning goof on our part, not sure about that.
But this is not a produced competition piece. This is a set dance being very well done as a performance. Nicely done!
The WEXFORD JIG BATTER step is not the same as danced on other YouTube videos. One can wonder if this was not a specially produced "competition piece" (note costumes, presence on stage)
