I'm a Santorum supporter and I like this video

@mrlampcompressor no they don't
China owns about 1.5 trillion, our total debt is 14.5 trillion. Thats not most.

If the U.S economy failed and the euro ceased to be, chinas economy would collapse since where a major buyer for their products. So technically without the U.S China would ceased to be and would be under the rule of Japan, and Germany would control most of Europe and Africa. The world needs the U.S, and the U.S needs the world.

@arf900 yes they do

@Yazawo1 Right but a great contribution was also the fact that every other major country's industrial capabilities were pretty much destroyed which lead to continued prosperity for several decades afterward. If WWII had not destroyed others nations industrial capabilities the United States would have experienced then the problems we face now.
-
@mrniceguy423 that is not the case always though. One of the major reasons we got out of the depression was WWII. There was so much demand for war materials that everyone got work and we pulled out of a recession so wars can help some economically

President Paul 2012!!

@arf900 do some reasearch... They loan us money to prop us up, then we continue buying goods exported from there placing the money back in their hands. Not a bad deal at all for them. It's a cycle that has grown too large for us to back out of at this point. And given the turmoil between the Chinese and US, it's a delicate situation. Maybe "owned" is not the correct word to use in the video, but much of the loaned money coming into our country to stabilize our debt problem is from China.
@AnonymousElektron And also, we have not learned from ours or anyone else's mistakes. Quantitative easing? That is the same policy of printing endless money that caused the french revolution. The welfare state? I think we all know what happened to the soviet union. The CIA has kicked out more than enough democratically elected leaders and replaced them with dictators for us to know we have to stop fighting wars that are not expressly for our national defense, but we repeat history and get burned

@hukslee We haven't had a great economy... our dollar has decreased 95% in value since the inception of the federal reserve in 1913. Our standard of living has increased, but things could be better. I don't see how debasing the currency so dramatically helps citizens become wealthier. Also, war doesn't save or help anybody economically. The destruction of property and loss of life is not the answer. That is The Broken Window Fallacy. Not trying to be patronizing btw. Ron Paul 2012!!
