Hello. My name is Matt Aub. I play guitar and sing in the Shrapnel Records (Paul Gilbert,Bruce Bouillet,Marty Friedman,Jason Becker,Vinnie Moore,Tony MacAlpine, etc.) band TimeLord. TimeLord's "Regeneration" album was released in September 2007. You can get it at iTunes,Amazon.com,etc. TimeLord II will be released in 2010...it will be a monstrous album! (*A solo instrumental weedle-deedle guitar album is in the works as well. My solo album will have all kinds of styles with minimal doses of cliche "ripping metal guitar." ) The president of Shrapnel,Mike Varney, thought that it would be cool to add some video guitar lessons on the first TimeLord album. I busted out the video camera and filmed this short guitar solo as a test run. The test clip turned out to have some cool licks, but the video came out WAY TOO DARK. Some new video lessons (with better lighting) will be posted in the near future. If you would like playing tips pertaining to a specific topic, please let me know. I am more than happy to discuss subjects relating to technique, theory, composing, recording, performing, etc. Thank you.

Cheers and take care,

  • what is gear ?

  • the barely visible guitar is a rare jackson rrj2 24-fret neck-thru randy rhoads model. the guitar was used on 9 or 10 songs on timelord's first shrapnel album called "regeneration." i changed sponsors,so the jacksons are now for sale!!!! the amp/cab setup used for this clip was a line hd147 head and a 4x12 mesa rectifier cabinet with c90 speakers. the line 6 head was a temporary rig...i didn't have it very long. it was bulletproof, but had inferior "digital" tone.

  • a little bit of "serena" in there hihi ;-) you're good!

  • jason is one of my favorites. way back in the day i asked him for some lessons...he was very busy at the time,so he sent me a letter with a guitar pick and an autograph. it is pretty surreal that we are labelmates now! jason's new album should be out in the near future.
