  • iv been looking for thus video for two years it was on a demo disc

  • @ENDORPHINSAM What is "the core"? If by that you mean the crucial parts of rendering, then "the core" has to do with the GPU. If you meant the additional visual effects that make them stand out, it indeed has to do with the CPU (the post-processing effects I mentioned before), but that is superfluous compared to the rest of the rendering process, far from deserving to be considered "core".

The bottom line is that you said the PS3 "barely uses it's GPU", and that couldn't be more wrong.

  • @NewLynxS And I never said it wasn't, I just said that the core of most 'beautiful' exclusive titles have to do with the CPU, not the GPU, Oh boy, if I could tell you what I meant, I would, but I'm binded to not speaking about it.

  • @ENDORPHINSAM Animation and shadows are handled by the GPU. The entire rendering process is handled by the GPU, except for the additional post-processing effects that can be done with the SPEs, and some occasional vertex operations that also can be transfered to the SPEs for performance reasons (but can still be handled by the GPU regardless).

The point is, the processor may not always be fully utilized, specially in multiplatform games, but the GPU always is.

  • @NewLynxS The PS3 uses it's GPU for geometry/entities but not for other things like animation, Contact Hardening Shadows, Dynamic shadows, A.I., stuff like that. that's what I mean by it barely using it's GPU. Because exclusive titles take advantage of the CPU, not the GPU because of how bad it is.

  • @ENDORPHINSAM Where the hell did you get the idea that the PS3 barely uses its GPU? It needs the GPU ALL THE TIME. Even though the SPEs on the Cell processor can help with post-processing effects (which only happens on excluisve games, since multiplatforms rarely use the SPEs), it's nowhere near being capable of rendering geometry and textures like a GPU, as well as handling several shading functions.

  • Really the ps3 is outdated... man I just got my ps3 slim.

  • @DARKSINISTER2012 This was in 2006. sadly because technology was coming out so fast the card was outdated around 2009, but because Playstation 3 barely uses it's GPU, and only uses 6 of it's CPU's, there are faar more things that can be done with the PS3 before it dies out and Sony needs to make a PS4.

  • PSN: mannie56ace :)

  • Sorry But the 360 couldn't handle Killzone and Uncharted graphics lmao
