Republicans are absolute pieces of shit. Excuse my vulgarity, but is there any other term that truly applies ? Democrats may not live up to their ideals, but Republicans are the enemies of average Americans. Economic shock doctrine in action. Cut taxes for the super-wealthy owning class until all services are starving. The artificial financial crisis becomes real. Then declare a need for Emergency Laws. This happened in Europe in the 30s, and South America for a century. USA's turn I guess.

Detroit's system is shit, so it's no big loss. In fact, they should just switch to a 100% charter school and/or backpack system. (And I don't want to hear any bullshit about how that would be "much worse" than what they have now!) A lot of people say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Well, in Detroit's case, "It's completely broke, so they should trash it."
