i agree ugh it hurts especially when the horse fell on the rider ow...that makes me think twice about wanting to do barrel racing.

It hurts to watch this and seeing the riders without helmets...

"Western attire" is required in most of these competitions and that includes a cowboy hat.
-
@Shokara2 Thank you for telling that to me. No one had ever said that to me. I completely understand where I went wrong now.
-
@MakaylaFaith Stop complaining. If your parents had forced you to wear it before you wouldn't have been hurt so badly in the first place. You are lucky to be alive and now your complaining about your freedom?? you have your priorities completely wrong.

@ILoveJimmy122908 Just saying, cowboy/cowgirl hat, same thing really, doesnt mean anything to say your wearing a cowboy hat if your a girl.

@Byrd968 Ik what u mean about the helmets I have 4 horses and I never ride with a helmet and I've never fallen off even when my horse takes off running when I'm on her bareback cuz I do reining

I wasn't wearing a helmet last weekend when my horse threw me off. I ended up in the E.R. with a stitch in the back of my head and two giant bruises on my side. I had a minor concusion. Now my mother wont let me back on any horse without a helmet. There goes my freedom........

If anyone is watching this with their parents. Mom's and Dad's read this! Try placing your kids in a few vaulting classes. My parents put me in a year of Equine Vaulting. When I returned to typical riding I had better balance, and I knew how to take care of my body when It was time to eat dirt.

I think western hats worn in a indoor event is pretty stupid. If you are going to bother wearing something on your head, why not just wear a brain protector?!
cowgirl hat is the only way to go!!!!!!!!

@zerroa23 I ride 3-5 horses, 5 days a week. Yep I've fallen, I've also learned how to fall and let go of the reins.
