04. Day Tripper (The Beatles - Live in San Francisco '66)

Candlestick Park, San Francisco (USA) - August 29th, 1966

Twenty-four thousand screaming fans couldn't be wrong. But what they didn't realize on that late August evening was that the Beatles didn't want to be there, that the band couldn't hear itself enough to sing on-key, and that this would be the last Beatles' concert in the United States ever. The group took to the stage at 9.27pm, and performed 11 songs. The Beatles knew it was to be their final concert. Recognising its significance, John Lennon and Paul McCartney took a camera onto the stage, with which they took pictures of the crowd, the rest of the group, and themselves at arm's length.

The concert is complete, but unfortunately "Long Tall Sally" has a cut: the tape finished before the end of the concert.

24,000 screaming people, and more, have been wrong many, many times before (der Fuhrer's Nuremburg Rally comes to mind). It's just that in this case they got it right. And this version is brilliant. It rocks hard, and the solo blows away the record version. It sounds like the Yardbirds!
