What was the origin of the universe and what will be its fate? UCLA Cosmologist Ned Wright describes the tools used to answer these questions. He has been involved in Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE), COsmic Background Explorer (COBE), the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP), and the Space InfraRed Telescope Facility (SIRTF), now called Spitzer. Series: UCLA Faculty Research Lectures [3/2009] [Science] [Show ID: 15879]

  • Good stuff keep in coming.

  • lol, no prob!

Did you hear the reference to Alan Guth?

    He's uploading right now...

    ;D

  • rabidape, you may be greater than two, but to me, you're always <3 :) also, i saw that hovind video where he uses your old clip about gravity. thats wicked old :)

  • lol, thanks!

I'm not sure what you're talking about and I am VERY intrigued.

    TELL ME MORE!

  • @RabidApe I was under the impression Olber's Parodox failed. His assumptions were based on a static Universe, he obviously was unaware of Red Shift or expansion in the early 19th Century, and thus wrong. See Isaac Asimov's essay "The Black of Night, 'Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction', Nov '64; reprinted in 'Asimov on Astronomy',Doubleday, 1974.

  • The law and force of the Planets are explained in the VEDAS.

We are only understanding what the ancients already knew.

  • Consider this:

So far earth went around the sun for about 5 billion times (5x10^9) without losing any momentum and the moon went around earth for about 60 billion times (12x5x10^9) without losing a inch because of zero loss of circular momentum. Both earth and the moon are traveling on a straight line (proof).

  • Moon is not continuously falling on earth nor it is losing it momentum. To moon, it appears that it is traveling on a straight line even though it is going around the earth in a circle.

Why? Because the space itself is curved around the earth. Moon just follows it path in space.

No loss of momentum due to circular motion and no continuously falling.

  • uhh please tell me that's a joke. it's named for a city named newton.

  • Very interesting- Olbers' Paradox. Huh. As a "Casual Armchair Cosmology Enthusiast", (I watch a lot of Science Channel & read Hawking, Kaku, Smoot & the like). I have never heard of this before. Einstein missed this? I'll have to drop his "genius" status down a notch for that one! He's still awesome though. And who needs CMBR confirmation from W.M.A.P when you have this? Just kidding of course- I like CMBR :)

  • cool lecture

  • i know, but it's sooooo funny my friend that it's irresistable.

If you watch those videos, you can see the ENTIRE contents of venomfangx's mind lolololol.

Amazing how venomfang claims to be an interllectual but couldnt be arsed to check out kent's claims independantly. I suppose that to do that would go against his cheap money making agenda, just a theory lol

  • dude he is a SCIENTIST and "knows" things...like what a molecule, base pair, genome, dna, etc are (not). :) what a fucking douche. i am more educated than he is. which is sad :)

  • i'm so sad that i have hovind's older videos (the complete collection) and i have bittorrent downloading his 14 hour later series of videos. It's a good laugh to watch and if he brings up a point you dont know about, it's good fun to go and research as to exactly why he is talking such shite lol

  • thanks for sticking this up rabid, really enjoy these!

  • Newton didn't sit under an Apple Tree, it was a Fig Tree, ergo, Fig Newton's.

  • Fire+Water = Tequila. Priceless.

  • wow. Kuhn was right!!!!

  • I saw that Hovind video. Kent never used it himself, it was a creationist user who spliced the two clips together.

  • oh yea... more money for nasa! and all other fields for that matter.

  • I thoroughly enjoyed that, thanks.

  • some more organized nerd can probably tell you. i am sifting through my list but navigating the recent posts is sketchy due to some that have been seen not showing up unless you look at the persons channel :)

  • i sift through videos all day because i have no life. a hovind video clip cuts to you saying "evolution is just a theory, like gravity" and you drop a pen. he goes "gravity is not a theory" then continues to be a fucking tool. i saw it actually in someone's video i am currently subscribed to in the past few days (maybe the person i am sub'd to inserted your clip in but it looks as though hovind's video actually used it). but i have quite a few subs and am not the most mentally organized so ???:)

  • I finally watched and it was well worth it!!

  • Ten out of five.

I've seen this guy before but I can't think where, but not this lecture.
