EAST HADDAM, CT—Every six years over the past three decades, I have invited you to join me at our home to share in my decision to seek election and re-election to the United States Senate.
On each of these occasions I have begun my remarks by observing that every important journey in life begins and ends at home. Today is no exception.
What is different about today, however, is not to announce the beginning of yet another campaign for the Senate, but rather to announce that after 35 years of representing the people of Connecticut in the United States Congress, I will not be a candidate for re-election this November.
Dear Senator Dodd: We met for the first time in 1989 during one of your visits to California. It was more than 10 years later that I moved to Connecticut and I was able to support you with my vote as well. Thank you for all of your hard work to improve our lives. I live in Europe now and it was a comfort for me to know that you were representing me and all of your other supporters in the Senate. I will miss you! Thank you once again! Sincerely, Constantine Alexander

We will miss all the great things you have brought to the great Americans in your time serving.
If only Ted could be here to see your efforts on his behalf.

Chris Dodd is a great senator. The man has helped my family out of situations, and this is a very disappointing day.
We appreciate your service, Senator Dodd. Keep improving this country and maintaining its greatness.
