Summer Of My Life - Simon May from Top Of The Pops October 1976 (from Einsfestival 10.3.2010). A 1.5M prime focus dish was used to receive this, but you don't really need such exotic kit. A modest 60-80cm dish (at 19.2 deg. east) and a free-to-air digital satellite receiver is all that's needed. Proof that great TV needn't cost money.
For those too young to remember, Tony is absolutely right about the record breaking long hot summer (and drought) of 1976. Sept. & Oct. did indeed seem to make up for it. Happy days!

  • I know this was written initially as incidental music for Crossroads, but the instrumental part has a touch of John Miles's 'Music' about it.

  • @MsBkirk Thanks, I see exactly what you mean... It would never have dawned on me!

  • Are the Einsfestival TOTP repeats of complete editions or like TOTP2 or just seolected clips with presenter links?

  • They are indeed complete editions.

There is a short caption overlay following the opening tiltes to show the original transmission date. There is also a delayed fade out after the end credits (sometimes 20s ore more). You can see this on my other TOTP post 'Naming Legs & Co'.

  • @Markjuk I am guessing this will be shown on BBC4 in a few weeks into October 2011. I guess. Also the 80's editions will be shown in 2015, if BBC4 reach that far. not Eins Festival, if the ratings getting any higher or not.

  • If ever 80's editions are screened on Einsfestival please let me know! I have had confirmation from a contact with friends at the BBC that we are unlkely ever to see complete TOTP's on the BBC again not due to copyright issues but they consider this type of material irrelevant to today's audience. How wrong are the BBC? No wonder it is so rubbish nowadays with ridiculous views like.
