Eddie Fowlie

Eddie Fowlie worked as a special effects expert, set dresser, locations manager and property master on all of David Lean's greatest epics, including Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago. In his autobiography published in December 2010, Fowlie speaks about his special friendship with Lean, revealing some hilarious anecdotes about working with some of Hollywood's biggest stars and directors.

Eddie passed away in his sleep this morning. He was 89.

Eddie Fowlie's autobiography, DAVID LEAN'S DEDICATED MANIAC - MEMOIRS OF A FILM SPECIALIST, written by Eddie Fowlie and Richard Torne, hits bookshops in the UK on December 20, 2010.

Part of this movie was filmed in Carboneras, South Spain, close to Almeria. Eddie establishe a nice, small, very private Hotel in Carboneras (still existing), where I was luck to get to know hin and his never forgotten brother Dave.
