What I actually said was "Although from what I see every day, I'd put it closer to 40%", my own observation. But if you like supported statements how about this? "About one-third of U.S. adults (33.8%) are obese." - That's off of the website for the Center of Disease Control. Pretty damn close to my personal observations of ~40%. My conclusion ... you're either part of the 33.8%, or have a soft spot for them (pun intended)

I know this as right 3 hours ago you said that no single individual can know 40% of the population, nor is it possible that they can know all 310 million people. What about that sentence is difficult for you to comprehend? Given that I am a single individual, it would be physically impossible for me or anyone to meet 40% (124 million) of the ~310 million people in the US. I think anyone above 5th grade would have understood.  Maybe you're only in 3rd grade though.
