My bird isn't camera shy, he just plain hates anything that isn't me.

He is a Catalina. Blue and Golds have the perfect temperment. They love to play and are cuddlers. Lorikeets are so beautiful Diego just turned 3 and is my baby. He's such a character and talks so much!

That's really cool! Be sure to visit him often so you can bond with him before you take him home. And I highly recommend that you read as much as you can before he comes home. I had no idea how to take care of this baby before I made my purchase. I bought about 10 books and read them several times before he finally came home for good. It's very time consuming but worth it! I look forward to his funny antics and new things he does and says! They're amazing! Congratuations!

I am a new owner and still learn things about these creatures on a daily basis! I strongly encourage you to read several books before committing to this. Take inventory of your life and make sure this fits forever! It is very sad when these birds are abused, forgotten, or left unloved..It's a lifetime committment! But one that is worth the love!

I think that's good advice, but I couldnt find a rescue that had a Macaw at the time. I did purchase Diego from a store that treats all their birds like as their own. They give them lots of love and care. I am sure there are rescues all over. And it's true that the length of time these birds live, you can get one that has already past the terrible two's and puberty and all the rough behavior times?

He's a Catalina. 1/2 Blue & Gold & 1/2 Scarlet. He is beautiful and very loving! I think his personality is the best!
