A video digest of the findings of the Puroresu.tv revaluation of Taue Akira! Taue is one of the very best pro wrestlers to come out of Japan, and this video explains why!

Please leave a comment with your thoughts on Taue and whether or not this video changed them at all :)

  • :56 - 1:05 WTF is wrong with those people? Dude is the 4th corner for a reason. He filled the role that was needed after Tsuruta left that AJPW needed and more importantly Misawa needed at the time IMO.

  • @TSlay1974 The problem is that Taue isnt an obviously impressive athlete. Most of what he does looks slightly awkward (like Baba) and it requires an understanding of the mechanics of work to appreciate what he offers (selling, structure, putting guys stuff over a million bucks etc). He had great offence IMO but he never busted out lots of kicks, elbows and moonsaults like the other 3 guys. The people were commenting on HDA vs Akiyama/KENTA where old Taue beat 'best wrestler in the world' KENTA.

  • ... And that probably rubbed them the wrong way. I think it's the move/spot/bump/workrate obsession sparked by modern indies wrestling world over that causes their mentality, but that's another issue!

  • This isn't right. You belong in my comments section, not on camera. Get back to your proper place!

  • @amcn1 My laziness will put me back in my rightful place, you needn't worry! ;)

  • I liked this video Daniel... and here's why.... Taue is the MAN!!! A student of the greatest wrestler of all time in my opinion, Jumbo Tsuruta. Those great six mans back in the 90's don't take place without Taue in them. He never oversold, He sold PERFECTLY for those who were "smaller" than him, and made it believable. Great wrestler, who could go 30-60 minutes and build a drama filled match with no problem. Great video Daniel...... sent you a message via Facebook, please respond when u can

  • @roylucier Thanks Roy! I was very pleasantly surprised to get a comment from you :) Facebook message replied!

  • There are a scant few people in the Wrestling world I would say could/would have to carry Nagata, but Taue is one of them. A shame so many people don't really get him.

  • More like, Baba is the poor man's Taue.

  • Taue was trained by the (second) best Wrestler Jumbo Tsuruta, so he MUST be good, seriously.Taue can wrestle in every match. Singles- Tag Team and also Multi man Matches. I dont care about gangly arms (BTW: Baba ruled so much), if someone wrestles amazing. Taue is one of the most underrated wrestler of all time and definitely one of the best tag-team wrestler I've ever seen! He's just awesome. Amazing editing, btw Daniel

  • Damn, its been a long time now. I'm glad to see you back!

Taue is the most underrated wrestler ever. Great video!

  • The build for the apron nodowa otoshi in AJPW was amazing. That always stuck out to me for some reason. I personally liked Taue because I could relate to him, being clumsy/nonathletic and with a similar body type. So when he was being a complete badass, it made me feel good about myself!

  • @DanielTalksPuroresu

Just saw the match, You are right, Taue is awesome.

  • @DanielTalksPuroresu I guess I was more pissed that we didn't get more KENTA vs Kawada but that is just me being a fan of both guys. I thought Taue did his job just fine he played the OLD Baba role (though more as a heel) from the 90's except he is better in the ring. If there were more GREAT guys who could do a Legit Heavy Weight style I think people wouldn't be so obsessed with spot/workrate stuff. The fact that most people HATE even good Big Man matches today shows that.
