You must be very careful buying all types of silver as much of it that says .925 is much less.

Refineries have big problems refining anything less than .600 bacause of the high "Mystery Metal" content.

Never pay over .05 a gram for candlesticks or knives or any other "weighted" silver and never buy any flatware that does not say "Sterling" or your asking for trouble!

Curious on the silver item (bowl?). You declined it but did you do a surface test and scratch a gouge acid test on it?

It colored down somewhat. I could vagely see .600.

Refiners dont like under .700.

This was probably under .500 for sure...

Just wanted to mention that a lady in the biz told me that people are now bringing in anything shiny to get some bucks. We will have to be extra aware of what is coming on the table.
