Elementary school principal faces sex charges
LAKELAND FLORIDA - An elementary school principal is facing sex charges involving an 11-year-old girl.
Corey Lynn Swindler, principal of Sikes Elementary School in Lakeland, was arrested early this morning. The 38-year-old was charged with six counts of lewd molestation on a child less than 12 years of age and one count of sexual battery on a child under 12 years of age.
Deputies say the victim is not a student at the school or a relative, but Swindler "has access to the girl through a domestic relationship." The Polk County Sheriff's Office would not elaborate on the relationship.
The girl's aunt contacted deputies after the victim told her Swindler has been touching her inappropriately for years, according to a news release.
Deputies said Swindler admitted he touched the girl sexually on several different occasions.
According to Sikes' website, Swindler is in his fourth year at the school and has a master's degree from Nova Southeastern.
Swindler is expected to make his first appearance Friday morning.
