Pregnant couple reflects on court's gay marriage ruling

Jess Clapp and Stephanie Moore decided to become the birth parents of a baby long before the Iowa Supreme Court took up the issue of gay marriage for review earlier this year. On Friday, they were excited that they can raise their son as legal parents, following the court’s decision to legalize same-sex marriages.
Unless a petition for rehearing is filed with the court, county recorders will start issuing revised marriage licenses, stripped of references to a bride or groom, to same-sex couples across the state.
