Hall & Oates: "Adult Education". Interesting imagery and props to say the least. One of the more memorable videos from my youth.

The 80's rocked.I grew up in that era. I wish it would repeat itself now.

Friday Night Videos!! Yes! It was a different time back in the 80's. It was just fun and videos were relatively new. No, the videos weren't all glitzy like they are today. it was just a fun, uncomplicated time for music and I wish I could go back in time...

I grew up in the 80's, too; I was born in 1979, though. I wish the 80's would come back so I could experience it as an adult.

Dallas, interesting stuff. I remember John talking about the video years afterwards and comparing it to Spinal Tap. I still don't get the points the video was trying to make, and how about that goofy 'dancing' Daryl and John did at the end? I still love watching the video, but in the same way one likes to look at a car wreck...

Director Timothy Pope said when he talked with Daryl and John about what they were looking for, they said they wanted to stay away from the sort of storytelling video that was common at the time. The problem with that, of course, was that "Adult Education" was the most narrative song they had produced since the War Babies album (1974). So, Pope decided to approach it from the concept of what "Adult Education" was about - first sexual experiences, ergo "sexual initiation". It is what it is.
