This is video # 7 in the series of the trip to EM24 for the Sept ARRL VHF QSO Party. You'll get a chance to see the beautiful area and a brief look at the 40th Annual Mena Hamfest held up by the Queen Wilhelmia Hotel. We then proceed down to the fire tower to set up operations. You'll see us raise the tower up this year with the new winch set-up designed by Dave/N0IRC who couldn't make the trip this year, but gave us a day of his time to do the fabrication on the new trailier. The mast is custom made and breaks down into two sections. Made of T-6061 it slips together and is secured with quick release pins. Each antenna has a pre-positioned plate to bolt the antennas boom plate too. We get a chance to give the gear a test with our friends Delbert/K5DDD in the Houston Texas area and Jimmy/KE5WCE in Frost Texas. Sherman N5SGY in Kaufman, Texas finishes out the shakedown of the station with Richard/WB0NQD at the microphone.

  • As another vhf/uhf man I really enjoy watching your video productions. This one has caused me to ask my club to go to Tishomingo County, Mississippi (highest point in Mississippi) and give it a try.

  • @w5kdm Thanks for the comments. I enjoy both the hobby and doing the video work. It's nice to go back and take a look later in life and re-live the fun times. Get those goes motivated and go hit that mountain during a June or Sept contest. They'll have a blast working those weak signals. 73 JD/N0IRS
