Quincy Jones Big Band - Killer Joe

This track kicks some serious ass. I tweaked the mix a bit. Solos by the late Jerome Richardson on flute, Jerry Hey on Trumpet and the incomparable Pete Christlieb on tenor sax....plus Louis Johnson on bass ...... the only player I've ever heard playing electric bass in a big band and making it happen.

At the center, one of the truly greats in music, Quincy Jones.

Hi Anna,

Glad you liked it. I believe this was 1981. For around 5 years from 1962 to the end of 1966 in Los Angeles I played drums in both big bands and five piece groups with Pete Christlieb, beginning with the Valley College Jazz Orchestra and Pete was just as much of a killer player at 18 as you hear him here with Quincy Jones.
