I'm not trying to challenge anyone's wisdom but that sounds like a worn-out cam chain adjuster so it's rattling like crazy on the cam chain, which is also causing large variations in the valve timing. Could be something else too, but I hear a lot of rattling going on and that's where I'd look first from what the video can tell me.

I have been riding XS750/XS850 for over 25 years and I am quite sure that the noise is comming from the right hand side and is from a loose prime chain. The only cure is to replace the chain - if you can find one in a better shape. Note that XS750 chains and XS850 chains are NOT similar as the XS850 chain is wider. You can reduce the noise by carefully having the carburettors set even with suitable vacuum instruments. Also a careful ignition timing set will lover the RPM where the noise starts.

Theres always those douche bags on youtube that claim they know whats wrong with an engine after seeing one vid, usually there wrong.

Then What was your problem and you probably didn't do it right. Also, I'm an MMI graduate and i do know what the fuck I'm talking about. You may of fixed it, but if you didn't do it the right way then it's going to be doin the same thing in a few months.

Sounds like some serious chain slap. Sounds like it gets a little quieter when it warms up.

Yup camchain for sure. When i bought my 1977 xs750-D it had the same noise, tightened my chain and it went away. Also, piece of advice, be gentle with shifting into second gear and popping the clutch, alot of people say they would brake the gear. Mine never had any problems and i would race my father on his 1980 honda cb900custom... dead even race everytime! I didnt have a fairing on mine tho, and im glad, the bike really can be a blast with it in its naked stock form.
First off your cam chain is loose and then that has probably broke your chain guides and they could of even possibly went to the crankcase and it could fuck up your gears. And now since you keep starting it your valves are probably bent, too. So, quick trying to start your bike and rebuild your entire top half of your engine.

You obviously DO NOT know as much as you think you do !!!!! Instead of wasting your time being a sarcastic butt head, you should have checked out my other bike video.I figured out the problem, DID NOT have to rebuild the top end, and she now runs awesome !!! Like most people that post comments here, you need to think,do a little research BEFORE you make a fool out of yourself !!!
