Stop School Busing! "Eight Buses, One Intersection"

On Wednesday afternoon, September 12, 2007 we watched as 8 busses passed through the intersection of Ardleigh Street and Highland Avenue in Philadelphia. End school bussing because it is a huge waste of money, time, exacerbates traffic and air pollution and does not produce ethnically or racially diverse student bodies and furthermore, is currently being used to subsidize the transportation of children to private schools both within and outside the City! It is INSANE.

children should walk to their neighborhood schools unless in rural areas. we need to make each school a good school instead of everybody scrambling for a good school. From our little neighborhood alone, kids are going in at least 8 different directions to different schools. Bad situation has to end

"children should walk to their neighborhood schools" nothing like waking up a few hours early to walk to school. i dont know about you but where i live in the summer time it hits a high of around 98+ and in the winter we get a low of around 13. i think them are some extreme messures for walking to school.

Walking and driving to school are less effecitent then having one bus take up to 50 kids at school. Hang around a high school where most of the students drive. Then you will see some congestion and air pollution problems. Do you honsestly think that putting all the cars on the road it would take to drive their children to school and back one by one?
